Queer Eye for the Queer Guy?
Have they installed microphones in our TV’s already?
Every Wednesday I come home from work weak, weary and hungry. Being that I work odd hours the “husband” and I end up eating dinner around 10pm or so. Just in time to find not a damn thing on TV except the bane of my existence, “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”. Words cannot describe how much I hate this show, but I cannot deny my better half a brief hour of happiness.
Every week I end up red faced and screaming at my television. I find the thought that these tacky queens, season after season, will make the lives of so many straight people better while there are gay men and woman who could use the help allot more. I mean, they did a whole season devoted to straight marriages. THEY ARE MARRYING FUCKING STRAIGHT PEOPLE AND WE CAN’T GET MARRIED? Does anyone else see my problem with this? So I end up yelling “how about Queer Eye for the Queer Guy?” or “Why aren’t they marrying gay couples in Mass? It’s legal there you know!!” during the entire show (much to the chagrin of my loving partner). But for four seasons my pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
All of a sudden, out of the blue I see the preview for next wed’s episode where they decide to finally make over a gay guy! Admittedly it’s a gay guy that lives with four straight guys (mmm suuure they’re straight) and no doubt he won’t have any sort of love interest to speak of, but it’s a start. Now they just have to do this for every episode and they might have a good show on their hands, though I still can’t stand any of the so called “fab five”.
All I have to say is, Thank God for Kathy Griffin who is on at 9pm right before this travesty that they call “Queer Eye”.

Stop Activist Legislatures and Tyrannical Majorities
The following are some of my personal thoughts and opinions regarding Gay Marriage equality and related topics. Please note: I consider myself a Protestant Christian and write with a religious edge at times that some might find distasteful. I expect many would disagree with me. I am interested in getting my ideas across but I do not write with proper grammar, I prefer Free Verse Poetry to political writing, so please bear with me. I only wish to express my truths. I have a different style of writing then most, yet I believe in the power of Words to change hearts and open minds.
Being born in New England my heritage of Feedom, Free Will, Libertine Values and the Enlightenment calls out from my blood. Some of my Ancestors from New England sought to limit the power of the various Legislative branches of government, to ensure that activist Legislatures would not succeed in imposing the Tyrannical will of majorities on less powerful minorities. They sought to stop laws that rather than empowering minorities might seek to eradicate them. I believe they did this by slowing the process of enacting law down to a crawl when necessary, creating enormous Bureaucracies that were slow to action and hopefully deliberative. The less laws that intrude in peoples private personal individual lives the better,” Live and Let Live,” I believe that these ideas were pivotal to the creation of this great Nation.

Respect for America’s Fallen Heroes…
But no respect for America’s Fallen Homo’s!!
I am soo pissed, the senate approved a measure that will prohibit people from protesting at national cemeteries (122 nationwide). The name of the bill is “Respect for America’s Fallen Heroes Act” (HR5037) and would bar protests within 300 feet of the entrance of a cemetery and within 150 feet of a road into the cemetery from 60 minutes before to 60 minutes after a funeral. Those violating the act would face up to a $100,000 fine and up to a year in prison.
What I don’t like about this bill is that it forces me to agree with Phelps, this IS an infringement on our freedom of speech. I don’t mean to say that I will be protesting military funerals anytime soon but any bill that’s used to limits your rights to free speech is never a good idea, no matter how well intentioned.
What I hate the most about this though, it ONLY protects military funerals (and as we all know there are no homo’s in the military). It does not stop anyone from protesting at a non-national cemetery. So by all means Mr. Phelps please continue to protest at the fag’s funerals cause it seems congress and the American people don’t give a shit about us homo’s.

Why marriage rights are important!
I just read a story about a chinese man (Hang Duan) who came to hawaii on a 90 day visa so he could be with his boyfriend (Bob Loren). They met in china while Bob was there teaching english.
Of course if they where heterosexual they simply could have gotten married and all would have been well, but being as we’re 2nd class citizens this option was not open to Hang and Bob. To try and skirt this idiotic issue they arranged to have Hang marry a woman. Seems the US govt. caught on to the charade and is prosecuting the four people involved, and poor Hang gets to be deported to China.
Another fine example of how the govt. maintains our 2nd class citizenship.

Why is Phelps important now?
So Fox news has had Shirley Phelps on twice recently, MSNBC had the reverend himself on earlier last week.
(does he remind anyone else of the guy from Poltergeist?)

So why is the news media all over the Phelps clan NOW?
Why are states creating laws banning them from protesting at funerals NOW?
Because these inbred troglodytes have taken to protesting soldiers funerals.
Funny how no one cared when he was protesting at gay funerals!
We as a community should be outraged that it’s only an issue now. We should be the ones on TV saying “Hey you ignorant assholes he’s been doing this to us for YEARS!!! You only care now cause it’s not fag funerals and weddings!!”
No one cared when he wanted to erect a Mathew Shepard memorial in Casper City Wyoming.

In case you can’t read that, the plaque says
MATTHEW SHEPARD
Entered Hell October 12, 1998. at age 21
In Defiance of God’s Warning:
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind; It is abomination”
Leviticus 18:22
But see, that’s ok to normal americans cause us fags, we’re just 2nd class citizens anyway.
Where’s the outrage?

Why 2ndclasscitizen.com?
Well because secondclasscitizen.com was taken ![]()
But seriously, we’ve started this blog because we felt there is a lack of voices on the topic of GLBT rights. Sure there are tons of gay bloggers out there, one of our favorites is John Aravosis from Americablog, but John’s blog is more centered on the evils of this administration (rightfully so) than the rights of GLBT people.
Why the name 2nd class citizen?
Well, technically until we get the right to marry and file taxes as couples we are 2nd class citizens.
From Wikipedia
Second-class citizen is an informal term used to describe a person who is legally (and often socially) discriminated against or generally treated unequally within a state or other political jurisdiction, despite being native-born or a legal resident. While not necessarily slaves, outlaws or criminals, second-class citizens have limited legal rights, civil rights and economic opportunities, and are often subject to mistreatment or neglect at the hands of their putative superiors.
Currently there are 1,138 federal benefits that GLBT people do not have. This does not include the hundreds of state benefits provided through marriage. Here’s a short list of some of the most practical rights not allowed to GLBT people.
From: Marriage Equality USA
- In times of crisis, spouses have hospital visitation rights and can make medical decisions in event of illness or disability of their spouse.
- Employers offer spouses sick leave, bereavement leave, access to health insurance and pension
- The law provides certain automatic rights to a person’s spouse regardless of whether or not a will exists.
- Married couples in elderly care facilities are generally not separated unless one spouse’s health dictates hospitalization or special care.
- The dissolution of a marriage requires a determination of property distribution, award of child custody and support and spousal support. Absent divorce, there is no uniform system for sorting out the ending of a relationship.
Then of course there’s the financial rights (and don’t get me started on the stereotype that we’re all rich, cause lord knows I’m not)
- Married couples are permitted to give an unlimited amount of gifts to each other without being taxed.
- The law presumes that a married couple with both names on the title to their home owns the property as “tenants by the entirety.”
- A married couple, by statute, has creditor protection of their marital home.
- Many married people are entitled to financial benefits relating to their spouses, such as disability, pension and social security benefits.
- With marriage, a couple has the right to be treated as an economic unit and to file joint tax returns (and pay the marriage penalty), and obtain joint health, home and auto insurance policies.
- When a spouse dies, there is no need to prove ownership of every item in the household for taxable purposes.
And what about our children?
What could be possibly more important than protection of children?
As it stands our families live in constant fear that our children could be taken away, or in the event that a relationship ends, only one person could have custody of the child, leaving the other spouse with no rights and no recourse to the child they helped raise. In most states adoption, while allowed by gay couples, is limited to custody of only one partner. If marriage where an option we wouldn’t have this problem.
So as anyone can see we are indeed 2nd class citizens.

Judiciary Committee sends FMA to senate floor
From civilrights.org
The Senate Judiciary Committee today voted along partisan lines to send the Federal Marriage Amendment to the full Senate for consideration. The proposed constitutional amendment restricts marriage to a union between a man and a woman. All 10 Republicans voted for the measure, and all eight Democrats voted against it. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has committed to bring the measure up for a full Senate vote in early June. In 2004, efforts in the Senate to reach a vote on the merits of the measure failed.
Our time draws nigh folks, if this piece of trash gets passed it will forever cement our 2nd class citizenship in stone.
